2013 Toyota Prius Gets Pricing and Special Edition

Once a leader without equal, the Toyota Prius is facing more and more competition from other hybrids and electrics, which have passed it by in terms of fuel economy. For the 2013 model year, Toyota is hoping to sway at least a few buyers with what it calls the Persona Series Special Edition.

The Persona Series is based on the Prius Three trim level. Its mechanicals remain the same as the stock Prius, but it enjoys a series of interior and exterior upgrades.

The most notable change for the Persona is the unique Black Cherry Pearl color option, which is offered in addition to Black and Blizzard Pearl options. It also includes a “Persona Series” badge and 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the special edition Prius is trimmed with charcoal-colored SofTexmaterial with black accents and red stitching. The steering wheel is also trimmed in SofTex material. The steering wheel bezel, shift knob ring and door grips are done up in dark chrome. The Persona Prius starts at an MSRP of $27,130.

Toyota says each trim level of the standard Prius increases by $200, which means a starting price of $24,200, excluding delivery.

The starting price of the base level Prius V MPV increases by $100 to $26,650 before delivery. Other Prius V trim levels increase by $100 to $155. The Prius V gets a new color option called Seaglass Pearl.

Toyota’s plug-in hybrid, Prius Plug-In, keeps the same $32,000 base price.

All new pricing goes into effect this month.
